Organizing
a Shopping Drive
Many generous women donate suits and blouses to us - sometimes more than we can
easily store and display. But the suit is just the beginning of a great look.
The women we serve also need help with the details. Hosiery and properly-fitting undergarments
are essential, both for a good fit and and a professional look. Tasteful costume jewelry and accessories such
as scarves, bags, and belts provide the finishing touches that make our clients confident on their first day on the job.
Your group can organize a shopping drive for new items to add to our inventory:
- Tasteful costume jewelry (pearl, gold or silver stud earrings)
- New hosiery in a variety of sizes and neutral colors (we especially need Queen sizes)
- Scarves, belts and handbags that are sleek and professional
You can also accept cash donations so we can purchase undergarments for our clients. Accepting cash
allows men to play a meaningful part in your charitable donation drive.
Organizing a Suit Drive
You can contact Success Suits You to inquire about their interview suit needs, let them know
that you are planning a Suit Drive, and receive instructions and forms for your Suit Drive. Then...
Obtain the necessary approval from your company (or other organization) to conduct the Suit Drive.

Pick
the dates of your Suit Drive. One day? A whole week?

Find co-workers
or friends who will share the responsibilities. Don't run your Drive alone!

Pick a time and place for people to drop off their donated items. You will need a place that can be locked at night.

Arrange for a moving or delivery service to pick up the donated items and bring them to Success
Suits You.

Determine what type of budget you will need and raise the necessary funds. Typical costs might
include posters and balloons to promote the Suit Drive, moving or delivery services, etc.

Plan to collect financial contributions. Suit Drives usually include financial
contributions from the participants, such as the host company and its employees. This also provides a great opportunity for
men to take part in the event.

Determine how you will market your Suit
Drive to generate awareness, volunteers and donations for
the event.
Remember, we have
certain requirements regarding items we can accept. We are looking
for new or nearly-new and cleaned:
- Coordinated,
contemporary, interview-appropriate skirt and pant suits
- Beautiful,
crisp blouses
- Professional
shoes
- We
are particularly in need of larger-size suits.
We cannot use sportswear or casual clothes, although there are plenty of other organizations
that would be glad to have such donations. We also cannot accept:
- Suits
and dresses that are not appropriate for interviews
- Undergarments
- Used
cosmetics
- Used
pantyhose
- Men's
clothing

Clothing
Intake
Volunteers
will help pick up donations, schedule corporate and large group clothing drives, work with retail establishments to secure
large-sized clothing, and accept donations at pre-arranged locations.
Customer
Service
For
volunteers who prefer direct contact with our customers, Customer Service will offer the opportunity for rewarding personal
interaction. In a relaxed, boutique-like setting, volunteers will act as personal
shoppers to help each customer select appropriate interview clothing and accessories.
Appointments will be timed to permit a level of service which will turn each volunteer into a personal shopper.
Marketing / Fundraising
People who are seeking a creative outlet, or those with a strong community network, have the opportunity to plan, develop and implement fundraising and community awareness
activities. Volunteers can also solicit donations for donations of goods and
services as well as financial support for programs and activities.
